Mensforth's Research

I thought I would publish Mensforth's research as a post instead of a comment - for all to see he is doing his master's bidding properly.

From Mensforth's mouth:-

hava's
'For carrying stuff to school, a briefcase or a haversack was recommended...I rapidly transitioned to a Haversack which whilst having two straps was only to be worn over one shoulder otherwise you were categorized as a Puff or a Spaka.'

Thanks to original poster, shades, for this quote. What he is on about is the uniform requirement for Kenton school, an item of which was the haversack or as we called it, the 'hava'. You could get it in grey or yellow/kharki/brown-most went for the latter. However, my recollection was that, yes, it was only 'cool' to use one strap, BUT....only geeks and poor fools kept the other strap on, dangling down loose because I recall watching in abject horror at break time at Kenton school as horrible hurtful types hunted down poor geeks and vulnerable fools who had left the other strap hanging. They would creep stealthily up behind them aka a lion hunting a gazelle, place one foot in the dangling strap and HOOOOOMPFHHHHH!!!! push down with the hoof(foot), causing the poor geek/vulnerable fool to arch his back and nearly break it backwards(going AHHHHHHHHHH!!! in pain and suffering) plus possibly bite his tongue as well...how horrid and shameful!!!
anybody else remember havas and what we did to them/used them for?
