Who remembers when......

Bernie Winters turned up at Kenton Bar Infants School to pick up his niece? I do and somewhere I have a signed photograph - I will have to dig through my Mum's photos to get it sometime. His niece was called Antonia Foster and she lived on Leeches estate and was in my class at infants school - she was lovely too - bit of a crush going at the time. I wonder where she is now?

Bernie pulled into the school in a nice shiny Rolls Royce and waited there for Antonia to finish classes. I cannot remember how we got the photos though.

Schnorbitz was not with him :(

    By the way - this would have been sometime in the 1970's as I was 7 or 8 years old I seem to remember - probably 1974-1975?

    Mike and Bernie did the Theatre Royal Panto in 1975/76, Robinson Crusoe I think. As they didn't live up here it might tie in.

kenton bar football team 1974-75

Here is a photo I found during more extensive research in a library... I remember the football team played for the 'Bagnall Cup' and played 'derbys' v St Cuthbert’s and also v Mountfield, North Fawdon, Wyndham, Montague and Snow Street (we and everyone else always thrashed Snow Street at least 12-0-their home pitch was at an angle of 45 degrees...) Note the' flag pennants' which were inspired by the Leeds United strip from the 1973-74 season on the socks of some of the kids in the front row...these had the numbers of the players on. the 10 first team players are all wearing the blue top with yellow hoop:the' subs' are wearing... whatever! It looks like they must have won the Bagnall cup that year! Anyone recognise themselves or any of the players?... (The tecka is Mr Brownlaw, a true gentleman...) Name the cup. Name the year.   I know one of them - far right hand side, Machiavellian smile, lizard eyes, domed stupid melon hair - Phil Leaver.  He once played for Newcastle United.
