One day I'm going to soar...
And today, oh my brothers, I shall do just that...
For this is where I am now, the words of this song...

DeleteI've got some information on NE PUNK 76-80 and punk from anywhere else for that matter. It was shite! I use the word 'was' deliberately because it is dead and gone. Ironic that because wasn't it meant to spell the end of proper music in the 70's, you know, proper musicians, playing proper music. Not a bunch of musically inept gobbing idiots playing out some trendy anti-establishment 'ideal' till the world got bored. Got news for you, Johhny Rotten does butter advertisements for TV now - very anti-establishment!
ReplyDeleteGuess who is still around,a lot of those bands whose music has/will endure forever!
At least have the gumption to post with a name - even if it is an alias. Lots I mean LOTS of people disagree with you including me and GoM and the Anonymous tortured Soul. Punk lives!!! Fuck Johnny Rotten - he is and was an arsehole just out to make money - can;t blame him though can ya? mans got to eat.......
DeleteCould'nt possibly use my name here. Anonymous is just fine. Wish I could be sometimes!
DeleteI don't disagree that some punk bands were decent, Suzie ATB's, The Clash and The Stranglers being some notable exceptions but I take issue with the music press of the times and their OTT welcome of this 'music' as the saviour of British popular culture. Where are they now?
There were a lot jumping on the Punk bandwagon - in fact Punk is probably the wrong word as the Stranglers and loads of the others were strumming away from the early 70's. "punk" a la Rotten and Co. was just a commercial hype to make money. Sayin' that I still listen to The Sex Pistols now and again.... just not my faves. Prefer The Ramones
DeleteThe Ramones...now there was a band!!!
DeleteLiked the New York scene as well, New York Dolls, Television, Blondie, Lou Reed etc.
