Mindless Vandalism

The other day as I patrolled the ramparts of my beloved Kenton Bar Estate I was walking(well like kind of gliding...ghosts dont walk...) past the flats at the bottom of Ryal Walk-where the second step pyramid is and noticed this mindless vandalism of these like rectangular boxes on the ground floor flats-about 6 or 7 were in this state, the vandalized one's being covered with a metal cover...a sad sight eh?...What they need to do is turn one of the houses into a mini police station with a couple of BOLOs (bastians of law and order)therein manned 24/7 like they do in Elswick...
God knows what these boxes are/were for...

kenton bar football team 1974-75

Here is a photo I found during more extensive research in a library... I remember the football team played for the 'Bagnall Cup' and played 'derbys' v St Cuthbert’s and also v Mountfield, North Fawdon, Wyndham, Montague and Snow Street (we and everyone else always thrashed Snow Street at least 12-0-their home pitch was at an angle of 45 degrees...) Note the' flag pennants' which were inspired by the Leeds United strip from the 1973-74 season on the socks of some of the kids in the front row...these had the numbers of the players on. the 10 first team players are all wearing the blue top with yellow hoop:the' subs' are wearing... whatever! It looks like they must have won the Bagnall cup that year! Anyone recognise themselves or any of the players?... (The tecka is Mr Brownlaw, a true gentleman...) Name the cup. Name the year.   I know one of them - far right hand side, Machiavellian smile, lizard eyes, domed stupid melon hair - Phil Leaver.  He once played for Newcastle United.
