Police Visits to Kenton Bar School..
Anyone remember this? We used to get visits from the police once or twice a year to teach us about road safety – the Green Cross Code
and things like not to talk to or accept lifts from strangers – common sense stuff. Do kids still get these visits?
I remember the policeman who used to come to our school, I am sure he was the biggest, tallest, most burly policeman ever built. He was called Sgt. Waters I seem to remember – anyways he seemed like a giant to me at the time – nowadays, in the age of pepper sprays and Tasers, coppers don’t have to be a certain height as they are not allowed to scud you around the ears anymore. I even read a newspaper article telling us about a policewoman who is 4’ 10” tall!!!
