A beautiful photo from our friends at RIBA and Beautiful Kenton Bar

Image
Friends, Roman’s, Countrymen – some time ago I received an email from our friends at Beautiful Kenton Bar telling me they had a surprise, a beautiful surprise, in the form of a photograph given to them by Rutter Carroll . The photo had been taken of a location on Kenton Bar Estate by a very famous architectural photographed – BK said they could tell me no more nor even show me the photograph until permission had been given for it’s inclusion on the blog. Yesterday the friendly and gallant folks at RIBA gave their permission for the photograph to be published free of the usual royalty payments and here my friends it is in all it’s glory. First two links if you want to find more:- Ribapix – an essential source of fine photographs for the aficionado of architecture and even some nice shots of Ryder and Yates if you care to do a search!! RIBA – the custodians of the history, art and culture of architecture in Britain And now dear friends – the picture itself courtesy of Henk Snoek a...

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Superkev/Terry": On wednesday, the eleventh day of January, in the year of two thousand and twelve my good wife collected for me a letter the post office had been unable to deliver. Intrigued as to its content, certain in the knowledge that I had not ordered anything of such huge proportion I eagerly anticipated her return. Yes, said letter contained my very own image of an iconic structure. Constructed in Enamel and silver, a treasure befitting of any pharaoh's tomb. This image now adorns the lapel of my favoured coat, where it shall stay, worn with pride for all to see and admire, curious as to the mysteries it beholds. For this I send my thanks, to El Patron, Ghost of Mensforth and indeed all Kenton Bar Folk, past and present. Should you see me and my resplendent badge, please make yourself known to me secure in the knowledge that the wine will flow at my expense.Regards and best wishes, Tel.

He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer—excellent for drawing the veil from men’s motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results.

The blog received yet another email from the' another anonymous tortured soul ', our new regular contributor...this time a terrible confession about something that happened 25 years ago...the only reason we post it is because it is clear that this unfortunate sinner seeks redemption for his crime and asks for advice as to what he can do to make amends... Take a deep breath and read this terrible tale oh my brothers... 25 years ago I was a young person aged about 18...I remember that a big gang of us from Kenton Bar Estate and Kenton started drinking along the Gosforth High Street. We went into the Gosforth Hotel, which at that time you may recall had all these like separate cubicles designed like railway carriages. I remember it was my round. At that time we were all still drinking cider. I ordered 16 pints of cider(there were 16 of us). At pint 15 the barrel ran out. The waiter went to change it, down the cellar... someone said 'let's leg it with the pints!...
