Dulux Dog – anyone remember him?

I was reminded of the Dulux Dog. The Dulux Dog (probably actually called Shep or something) was one of those fucking massive Old English Sheepdogs. He was owned by someone in Rob Wilkinson’s street. To a young kid it seemed gigantic and was often roaming free in the streets bounding up to you and barking and fooling on I was shite scared I tell you. The owners used to shave it once a year – a bit like your granny.

    Why anyone in their right mind would want a fucking dog like this dear knows...imagine in the winter having to bath the bastard after every fucking walk, the hound being covered in filth and mud...no laminate floors in them days, just carpets making it even worse...

kenton bar football team 1974-75

Here is a photo I found during more extensive research in a library... I remember the football team played for the 'Bagnall Cup' and played 'derbys' v St Cuthbert’s and also v Mountfield, North Fawdon, Wyndham, Montague and Snow Street (we and everyone else always thrashed Snow Street at least 12-0-their home pitch was at an angle of 45 degrees...) Note the' flag pennants' which were inspired by the Leeds United strip from the 1973-74 season on the socks of some of the kids in the front row...these had the numbers of the players on. the 10 first team players are all wearing the blue top with yellow hoop:the' subs' are wearing... whatever! It looks like they must have won the Bagnall cup that year! Anyone recognise themselves or any of the players?... (The tecka is Mr Brownlaw, a true gentleman...)
