scotch arrows
anyone remember making them in the late 70s with bamboo, string, beermats and hurling them on Kenton Bar Field?
Dedicated to Kenton Bar Estate and the Kenton Bar Pyramid. Situated to the north west of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Kenton Bar is a housing estate that is part of Kenton Ward in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is situated next to North Kenton, Cragston Park and Cowgate. It was the product of the architectural partnership Gordon Ryder and Peter Yates. The blog is particularly interested in the architecture of the estate and also to hear anecdotes from Kenton Bar residents past and present
No - but I do remember taking my slug gun (a Diana SP50 .177 caliber breech loading air pistol) down the fields and shooting at anything that moved. I never did manage to hit anything though.....

ReplyDeleteMaster,

Having done some research apparently they were also known as 'dutch''bobby'& 'whip' arrows...I still remember how to make them!(you could also use a playing card instead of a beermat for the flight!
ReplyDeleteCan you make one at the weekend and take a picture or two - maybe even try it out and make a video?
ReplyDeleteWhy Viper Velma - no idea.
ReplyDeleteGoogle showed up this THIS - it seems that Viper Velma was the title of a story in a Popeye magazine published in 1982.
