traffic lights

Good day...in response to noble Shades's request I now present magnificent 3;traffic lights...
Now as shades has already said, stealing my thunder somewhat, there were no traffic lights on Kenton Bar Estate initially...but now there are some at the top at the junction between Hazeldene Ave & Kenton Lane...anyone remember when they were introduced?...why?...volume of traffic increasing over the years no doubt, causing problems for drivers during rush hour trying to get out onto Kenton Lane, trying to get off to rabbit(work)...
I found this bit of info somewhere however:
'The Kenton Bar roundabout is an extremely busy road junction and at present operates over its capacity. Queues in the morning peak period are often more than 25 cars in length along the south bound section of Ponteland Road heading toward Kenton Bar roundabout and that this approach to the roundabout is the main traffic problem. The surveys found that the primary cause of congestion which results in the traffic queues during peak periods is the current operation of the pedestrian phase of the traffic lights at the junction of Hazeldene Avenue and Kenton Lane. At present the pedestrian phase causes a red light to be shown on both roads at the same time. The traffic signals are used by school children walking to Kenton School and are heavily used during the morning peak hour. The frequent red light shown to traffic heading east along Kenton Lane causes a significant tailback toward Kenton Bar roundabout and the subsequent blocking of that roundabout. The proposed new access to the site includes a new upgraded staggered signal controlled junction with each crossing point divided into two sections. This would improve the through flow of traffic at this junction and remove the cause of congestion along Kenton Lane and at the roundabout. '

  1. Menso - the traffic lights both showing red at the same time problem is easily solved. Paint the lenses with matt black paint. Cover the buttons with superglue. Voila

  3. Nein Bosno, only at the top and not I doubt when the estate was first built. Nor was there a lollypop man for only the posh types(like Britt) who lived in the T1 split levels up the top on Hazeledene had to cross a road to get to school...and anyway they didnt need cross roads to get to school as they received 1-1 tuiton at home from personal tutors(except Britt who wasn't quite that posh...)
