The torture of Shades:Dashing White Sergeant, March of the Mods...

Look what the poor sod had to endure...

As for 'march of the mods' I cant believe this insipid piece of pure dung has owt to do with mods...
bloody aweful...cudnt find no footage of dancing for this one, but the tune conjours up the most horrific of dancing nightmares...poor Shades...

I now realise we got away lightly with 'the Gay Gordon'...

  1. I secretly liked "dancing", although I preferred "Pirates".

The girls gym wasn't as grand as that. It was nicer than the boy's one though, it had a maple floor (rather than a cork one) and didn't smell of sweaty feet.

    here it was in 2008.

  2. Sadly, I can more-or-less still remember the march of the mods dance.

Lines of two (or possibly four) holding hands facing clockwise in a big circle.
Left foot heel toe heel toe,
Right foot heel toe heel toe,
    Jump forwards
    Jump backwards
    Three big steps

That took up four bars, now do it all again about another twenty times!

  3. How horrible...the tears are once again flowing down mein face....I feel your pain...the swines...
actually I reckon we also had to submit to this bile also as I recognise the horrible bloody tune...wonder if they still do this at Kenton?...
anyway that is enough on this subject as were going off topic and non blog related...bury these traumatic memories deeply away...

  4. I remember one of the "winter(s) of discontent" that impacted on our 1970 Christmas Party.

Enforced power cuts & 3 day week meant rolling power cuts & a power blackout during our 2nd year party. They put a gas lamp on the forestage and Mr. Atkinson got his accordion out so we could still do the dancing...
