The flats down from the ramp 2010
I did promise to up a photo of these flats in the post' Slide at Reestones Place' and here it is...
I took it at the crack of dawn, Ghost of Mensforth tirelessly carrying out the behest of the master whilst lesser mortals slept soundly...As noble Shades said, the initial plan was to have more shops underneath, but this never happened...this was a great place for duffs, tuggy on high or football when it rained...but now alas, the youth of today can no longer access underneath due to the red metal fence...why I wonder was this erected?...and what are those weird circle things on the walls?...sky tv dishes? Note the 3 rectangular down lights still in place...wonder if they still work?...
The view is horribly spoilt by ghastly greenery but back in those glorious days of long ago, all was lovely grey tarmac...sigh & sob sob...
If you click on the photo you will see that the ghastly greenery directly in front of the flats is enclosed by a wooden fence...when I took the photo I noticed there were no like benches inside this fence for people to sit on and was intrigued as to its purpose...I asked some riff raff I know who lives on the estate about its function...this person confirmed that there are no benches to sit on and that initially the kids played football in it...BUT...apparently people started using it to let their dogs mess on...blatently just like 'walking' their dogs in it!...for gods sake, the road round the estate(Hazeldene Ave) still has a sliver of grass betwixt it and the western bypass motorway which would be much better suited, but no apparently this was too much to ask...so now due to dog fouling the kids no longer play football there and it is just a 'dog toilet'...community association/local council:is it/would it be rocket science to put up a 'NO DOGS' sign and have a dog warden patrol on occasion and force these beasts of the field to go over the road? it beggers belief... :(
ReplyDeleteNext time please pour petrol over the grass and set it on fire.
ReplyDeleteThe architects would turn in their graves at the site of satellite dishes and aerials all over the place - what a ghastly mess. next time you are there take an air rifle and shoot holes in them.
