Lesser mortal 5-'Ironsy'

Ironsy lived up the top posh end and looked like a cross between Boris Karloff and Jean Jacques Burnel, (the bassist from 'the stranglers')...more, he possessed a set of keyboards which at that time no one else on the estate did to my knowledge...more, he could play'golden brown' by the stranglers perfectly...now one time we(me and a group of 20+ nadsats) for some reason went to his house to listen to him play 'golden brown'...this horde was not allowed in his house, so we all stood outside(he lived in an electric type house and the keyboards were set up by the window in the front room)... he opened the windows and curtains so we could see and hear him and began playing the song perfectly...swaying slightly he became as if mesmerized and possessed by the hypnotic rhythm and played on and on and on...after listening to this and watching him swaying hypnotized like for an age eventually we slowly withdrew, tip toeing away away backwards and out out out into the darkmans...Ironsy continued to play golden brown on and on and on out to fade...
Last time I ever saw him he was working in a kebab shop near the old Marlborough bus station...me and the master bought a kebab from him...
Ironsy, I salute you and present you with the 5th lesser mortal award!
well done sir!

  1. On the subject of kebabs, once upon a time me and the master went to a kebab shop(not Ionsy's)...called I do believe something like the 'Afghan Kebab House'...unfortunately the master slipped on a tomato slice that had been carelessly left lying on the floor as we entered...he landed on his back, staring at the ceiling...without a word he got up, left the kebab shop without purchasing a kebab, never to return...

  2. Irony was the original James Dean-'Rebel Without a Cause'
In the infants the horrible tecka could not control him and ostracized him from the rest of the class, putting him in a corner, boxed off...I vividly remember he immediately found a crayon/felt tip & wrote 'Adrians Den' on the wall of his corner...
    respect Ironsy!
