Kenton Bar Celebrities Pre 1988-Keith at the fish&chip shop

Keith AKA 'Beefy' went to Kenton Bar Primary... Keith was a lovely lad, kind and happy...but he was posh! oh yes, ultra posh in that he came from Leeches Estate(like Sherriff Shades)and possibly due to his 'wealthy' background and also to his entrepeneurial spirit, ended up running and owning the Kenton Bar Chippy at the tender age of 16-17ish, much to the astonishment of his peers still wandering about the estate,a great herd of unemployed teenagers who had left school ASP...Keith's nickname as I just said was 'beefy' for some reason...
Anyway, here is a photo of his chippy now, a kebab(spelt kabab by the owners!) and pizza place, in my humble opinion a shadow of the bright and welcoming fish and chip shop of those dim dark distant days...however I must confess I preferred the chippy at North Kenton!
ps: note the graffiti'NKFL'...NK must be north kenton, but what might 'FL'mean?....

    I remember the chippy, used to go every friday night then go home to watch Auf Weidersehen Pet (first series). And it's one of the first places I knew that had aspace invaders machine!

kenton bar football team 1974-75

Here is a photo I found during more extensive research in a library... I remember the football team played for the 'Bagnall Cup' and played 'derbys' v St Cuthbert’s and also v Mountfield, North Fawdon, Wyndham, Montague and Snow Street (we and everyone else always thrashed Snow Street at least 12-0-their home pitch was at an angle of 45 degrees...) Note the' flag pennants' which were inspired by the Leeds United strip from the 1973-74 season on the socks of some of the kids in the front row...these had the numbers of the players on. the 10 first team players are all wearing the blue top with yellow hoop:the' subs' are wearing... whatever! It looks like they must have won the Bagnall cup that year! Anyone recognise themselves or any of the players?... (The tecka is Mr Brownlaw, a true gentleman...)
