A little smudgy but definitely THE PYRAMID – the top circled structure……
Dedicated to Kenton Bar Estate and the Kenton Bar Pyramid. Situated to the north west of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Kenton Bar is a housing estate that is part of Kenton Ward in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is situated next to North Kenton, Cragston Park and Cowgate. It was the product of the architectural partnership Gordon Ryder and Peter Yates. The blog is particularly interested in the architecture of the estate and also to hear anecdotes from Kenton Bar residents past and present

Oh My god! I am speechless and in total awe and wonder at this!
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
and what on earth is that second circled structure at the bottom?....
What a couple of days for the blog!!!!!!
The lower feature is more likely a childrens slide although I don't remember one in this position - it may have been taken away by the time I was old enough to venture up to the top of the estate. Certain places around the estate had childrens slide and a few swings. The slides were built on mounds like this one not as free standing items. This one is in Fawley Green (or Beal Green) I can never remember which one is upper and lower - need to look at a map. The slide is the thin structure in the centre of the mound.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much a shame that the photo is blurred though...However the ramp is totally visible to the right of the pyry..a slight shadow is cast by the step pyry at the shops, one of only 3 step pyry's I think...
ReplyDeleteNice. I await the holy grail, the one showing the cascade in full spout.
ReplyDelete(& the Engineer in me wants to see the inner sanctum, the subterranean pump chamber).
Seeing those curving swathes of garages reminds me of riding on the builder's dumpers...
