(subject to the master's watermarking...)
Dedicated to Kenton Bar Estate and the Kenton Bar Pyramid. Situated to the north west of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Kenton Bar is a housing estate that is part of Kenton Ward in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is situated next to North Kenton, Cragston Park and Cowgate. It was the product of the architectural partnership Gordon Ryder and Peter Yates. The blog is particularly interested in the architecture of the estate and also to hear anecdotes from Kenton Bar residents past and present
I must try and get up to see this exhibition in the next three weeks.
ReplyDeleteDo so Shades...a once in a lifetime opportunity..you have until 27th Feb!
ReplyDeleteHouses for sale-
ReplyDeleteThirston Way (T2)
Ryan Walk (T2)
Ryal Walk (Electric house, 4 bedrooms!)
I don't want to move back though.
Byrness Close (T1)
ReplyDeleteMallowburn Crescent (T1)
Glimpses of original features in some of these, as well as structural alterations.
2 things of interest to note from Shades' photo links for Thirston Way(T2)and Ryal Walk(Electric house, 4 bedrooms:
ReplyDeletea)Note the green to the right:To the right of this end T2 at Thirston and left round the side of the house is the big rectangular green where the maypole used to be... I can just about remember being functional..there is still evidence in the shape of a round grass scar to mark the spot...anyone remember dancing about it?
b)The 4 bedroom Ryal Walk elecrical house for sale: Note the house has been victim to drainpipe theft by bounders from the bottom(no doubt) who purloin these items to use as mud slinging guns(Note the white vertical mark)...how dreadful...(See 'drainpipes update' post Sept 2009)
In Shades' photo link for Mallowburn Cresent(T1) I see they have knocked down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room...in the days before double glazing this would not have been wise as it would have been very cold in winter...incidently only the split levels, electric houses and 4 bedroom cube houses had 2 toilets...
ReplyDeleteWell done Shades for thinking of using these links to provide more visual source material for the blog!
