The Green Bridge 2

Apart from the kenton bar green bridge there was also the 'kenton school green bridge' which connected the lower school with the main school site... it was green and was made of some stuff they made boats of in the DT department at the time-fibre glass?...anyway, I remember horrid rough types, probably from the bottom end of kenton bar or maybe rough kenton smashed a hole in the bridge which gave them access to the inner door on the south side of the bridge(there was a slope at that end outside, so you could touch the outer bridge wall at that point)These bounders were then able to reach through the hole with their horrible rookers(hands)... The ghastly hooligans would spend every 'playtime' waiting AKA a spider waiting for a fly for some poor sod(s) to come rushing across the bridge from the main block to the lower school, to get to the tuck shop before the massive queue... The hunter hooligan would see their silhouettes through the translucent green fibre glass, and at the last moment slam the inner door shut across the bridge, causing the running sod to smash their carcass CASHTOOOOOMPH!!! then AHHHRGGGGGHHHHH!!! into the door, causing pain and suffering... The swines would then leg it onto the playground and adapt the pose of innocent anonymity... How do I know this?...because I was doing a survey of birds for an orthothologist scout badge(I had become a scout at kenton obviously)and was in the vicinity over the course a month observing a nest of a lesser spotted seagull that had been built on top of the bridge......how horrible and shameful... :( Here is a photo of the blue bridge which replaced the green bridge, maybe for health and safety reasons(fibreglass) but the bridge is the same, just different cladding...anyone remember it?

  3. A mate of mine was in Scouts and their hut was somewhere down Montagu. He used to on about some trick they used to play on other lads called "The spunky biscuit".

    Best not go there...

  4. The trick with the green bridge was if you spotted a teacher approaching, you'd spin round and slowly head the other way, get caught, briefly chastised and made to go back the way you came, which is where you wanted to go in the first place.

    Remember the "Lingo Lab?"

  5. The lingo lab - run by that old batty German bird - what was her name again.....Irma Bunt wasn't it? No - it was Miss Lilburn. She looked like a wizzened up version of Sooty the Bear and acted like a reincarnation of Herr Hitler. She ran that lingo lab with a rod of iron - no wonder I hated French and skipped German.....come to think of it - another ex-nazi was also in the languages department - herr Lutman. maybe they were allied?
