Third visit to Kenton Bar Estate

At my master's behest I once again returned to Kenton Bar Estate.
This time I took three photos. Theis one shows a front view of one of those 'car wash thingies' bought to my attention by the master. It is broken and useless, as they were when I was a little kid. I saw 3 more at least and all are broken and useless.

    There used to be "car wash" areas in those rows of garages - never saw one that was not filled with discarded rubbish - old bikes and shopping trollies.....

    I did see water coming from one of those car wash thingies ONCE - after that they were turned off permanently. They were supposed to have a door on them and each tenant had a key. Doors smashed and burned on bonnie night is my guess

kenton bar football team 1974-75

Here is a photo I found during more extensive research in a library... I remember the football team played for the 'Bagnall Cup' and played 'derbys' v St Cuthbert’s and also v Mountfield, North Fawdon, Wyndham, Montague and Snow Street (we and everyone else always thrashed Snow Street at least 12-0-their home pitch was at an angle of 45 degrees...) Note the' flag pennants' which were inspired by the Leeds United strip from the 1973-74 season on the socks of some of the kids in the front row...these had the numbers of the players on. the 10 first team players are all wearing the blue top with yellow hoop:the' subs' are wearing... whatever! It looks like they must have won the Bagnall cup that year! Anyone recognise themselves or any of the players?... (The tecka is Mr Brownlaw, a true gentleman...) Name the cup. Name the year.   I know one of them - far right hand side, Machiavellian smile, lizard eyes, domed stupid melon hair - Phil Leaver.  He once played for Newcastle United.
