Notable alumni

Forward:For the unsavoury peasants, ruffians and vagabonds who came from the bottom end of the estate and wont know what these words means:
An alumnus is "a graduate or former student of a school, college, or university.
Notable means like important or famous... eg alan shearer who went to gosforth high school

Was there anybody from Kenton Bar Estate, or even Kenton school who went on to be a 'notable alumni'?

  1. A mate of mine had a famous Uncle- Freddy "Parrotface" Davies. He lived on the very top row of T1As near Kenton Lane though.

I lived on Eland Close which was pretty much the last road to be occupied other than the flats with the missing shops near the lower Pyramid square.

Whilst most of the flats and houses were occupied by early '69, the builders were still landscaping and pottering for another year or so.

  2. Shades,
I fear this chap is ineligible for the 'hall of fame'-a distant relative is not someone who grew up on the estate/went to kenton school...however, yes he is on Wikapedia...'born in brixton... and now lives in Scotland...uncles ect are not 'notable alumni' from kentonbar/kenton school-El Patron am I correct? (interesting though it is Shades!)

  3. mmm - the jury is out Mensforth - any comments are welcome though. I DID have a famous encounter too though - there was a girl in my class at primary school called Antonia Foster and her Uncle was none other than Bernie Winters of the comedy duo "Mike and Bernie Winters". I remember one day he turned up at our school to pick Antonia up...in a Rolls Royce - some of us, myself included, got signed photos - can't find it now though.....

  4. A friend of mine worked for Bernie Winters for a while. Duties included pimping and walking Schnorbitz.

I worked a Panto season starring Mike & Bernie at the Royal in '75, Mike was much more communicative than Bernie offstage.
