under the ramp
the water troughs were either side of the ramp,so I presume the troughs were not separate and were therefore one trough, with the water that cascaded off the end of the blue bit able to flow under the ramp to the south side bit...could you get under the ramp from one to the other?this I remember not...also I seem to recall that the ramp was not all concrete, but had like plastic/glass sides at the point when it was above the trough...also at that point the concrete top bit of the ramp became metal(why?) and that that ran horizontal to the wall(that ran across at the end of the blue bit). The metal top bit was about 15 cm wide and you could easily walk up on top of the concrete/metal ramp sides therefore...

it was a single trough about 12 inches deep in the old money, that is 30 of your alien centimeters with a pebbled bottom. The trough was invariably filled to some extent with rainwater. As a kid I remember "fishing" in it for these larvae like things - some red and some black although on catching them I can never remember bringing any home in my jam-jar. There was a gap under the ramp Mensforth so your tiny memory is correct. One could get from one side of the trough to the other by ducking low and going under the ramp. This was known as "Ramping it" in my day.
